Laboratory equipment from Turkey will help to prejudice the spread of "biological fire"-Volodymyr Bondar in Kharkiv region

Today, being a working visit to Kharkiv region, deputy head of the state agency of Forest Resources Volodymyr Bondar together with the Honorary Consul of Turkish republic in Kharkiv Volodymyr White took part in the opening of the laboratory to fight of forest pests.

"The invasion of scabies in forests has been observed in recent years. Chemical drugs against such pests and diseases today are absent. Forestry can only take certain measures to increase forest stability and reduce the risk of damaging insects and illnesses. To date, the only method of combating this beetles is the timely way of fresh-populated trees, until the beetle has not departed from them,-said Volodymyr Bondar.

According to the deputy chairman of the State Forest agency, there is a problem with timely clogging of patients and weakened trees from the forest. In particular, a long period of coordination of sanitary-and-health activities and the season of silence, which is valid from April, 1 till June, 15.

We are working to make changes to sanitary regulations and legislation. I would like to emphasize that the benefits are not to move more sick trees. On the contrary, the sooner we remove the forest from the sick and the weakened trees, the smaller the litsivers will then rub. We do not aim to abolish the season of silence. However, it is during this period the pests are most disseminated, and we can not do anything about it. Therefore, we introduce all possible methods – and make changes to normative and legislative acts, and implement biological methods of struggle,-said Volodymyr Bondar.

He noted that in addition to the timely ruse, it is necessary to work on the prejudice of reproduction of pests. To this end, Ukraine will use the biological method of cultivation and extraction of insect predators.

Modern laboratory, given by General Directorate of Forestry of Turkey, will work in the State specialized forestry enterprise "kharkivforest protection".

It is necessary to realize that the use of biological means is not cheap and long-term process. It is necessary to grow a sufficient amount of beetles in the laboratory for release. Therefore, in large areas, tens of thousands of hectares, the effect of insect predators will be noticeable only a few years later. But the decrease in the density of the second population of the carp, will be noticeable already in the year of issue,-said the deputy chairman of the State forestry.

In its turn, the workers of Kharkiv forest Protection emphasized that two types of insect predators will be produced with the help of laboratory equipment, which will then be released into the forest as an element of integrated protection of the forest against scabies. Scabies larvae develop hidden in the tissue of trees, forming specific damage to the bark. Thanasimus Formicarius – Murhomus – The persons who are able to find eggs, larvae, lyachok and adults beetles of scabies under the bark of trees, destroy them, providing the biological protection of trees.

Note that today the most dangerous pest of pine forests in Ukraine is the coronoid and hexagonal. The underlying cause is the negative processes observed in the forest plantations that are associated primarily with climate change. Such significant temperature rises contribute to the fact that harmful organisms begin to multiply in their unnatural, huge scale, damaging not only weakened, but also healthy plantations.

The mass degradation of pine plantations was first observed in 2011 in the year of Zhytomyr Polissya, where it spread to other regions, and from 2018 year mass, so-called "coronary" drying, has already reached the pine plantations of Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
