For six months, the area of forest fires increased by 80% compared to the same period last year

During the first half-year of 2018 in forests, subordinated to the state lisogenits, arose and eliminated 632 fires on the square 934.5 hectares. Compared with the same period last year the fires area increased by 80%. This was reported during the meeting of the College of departments.

The largest number of fires is registered in Kherson (104 cases), Lugansk (102) and Dnepropetrovsk (90) regional management of forestry and hunting Farms (OULMG).

The largest area of fires-in Kherson (704 hectares, from them Lisova fire in Radensky and Oleskov forestry of "Oleskov LMG", which occurred on May 28-June 2, 2018 on the square 592 hectares, including Horse – 226 hectares), Lugansk (87 hectares), Dnipropetrovsk (30 ha), Zaporizhzhya (23 ha) and Chernihiv (22 hectares) oulmg.

One factor that affects the timely detection and elimination of forest fires is the efficiency of the State Forest guard. However, due to the three-year absence of state financing of forestry, in particular, on fire-prevention measures for the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, forestry in these areas did not receive wages and had been fired.

No case of fires in Vinnitsa, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovograd, Ternopil and Chernivtsi OULMG.

The employees of the State forest protection conducted 11 thousand raids, for violation of the requirements of fire safety in the forests were brought to administrative responsibility 786 offenders for the amount of 74.5 thous. Uah.

In a matter of minutes, they can destroy or damage the forest plantations grown by decades on hundreds and sometimes thousands of hectares. Goslisogenstvo urges citizens of Ukraine to adhere to the rules of fire safety, recommends to abandon the visit of forests in connection with the increase of temperature regime and growth of the number of forest fires.
