Delegation of State Forestry in Austria discusses the issues of forestry adaptation to climate change

The Ukrainian delegation under the direction of deputy head of the state agency of Forest Resources Volodymyr Bondarya is in the Republic of Austria to exchange experience and to establish cooperation in the field of forestry.

In particular, today was a meeting and discussing a number of questions in the Forestry Research Center on adapting forestry to climate change.

Austrian researchers have detailed information on both positive and negative impacts of climate change. For example, according to their data, fir now has a better increase, but for the next 30 years this breed of tree, the main for Austria, can disappear.

Also deputy head of the state committee Vladimir Bondar and director of the Austrian Forest Research center Peter Mayer discussed the issue of national reporting on climate change in the United Nations Framework Convention. Austrian forestry pay attention to the fact that in the short term will have large problems with the state of forestry due to deterioration of the state of forests and coronary injection.

Volodymyr Bondar, in his turn, also noted that the problem of the spread of scabies and mass drying of forests is very topical for Ukraine.

It is very good that Austrian scientists and licesters violate the issues of "biological fires" at the global level. We fully support them for the sake of common pest control of the forest. I hope that decisions to be taken in the future will contribute to adapting Ukrainian legislation to a more rapid response to climate change. And as a result, the rapid and effective actions in the fight against the coronation and the widows,-said Volodymyr Bondar.

Besides, during the meeting, the Austrian party presented the peculiarities of public communication and the work of the forest dialogue. They have been with the participation of more than 85 organizations and agencies to reconcile the strategy and plan of action for the period after 2020.

Also, Ukrainian and Austrian forestry discussed issues of organization of further cooperation. identified the topics of trainings and seminars in Ukraine to spread the experience of Austria in preventing the effects of climate change, communication with the public.
