Almost all the forest fires start outside the forested areas-Christina Yushkevych

State Agency of forest Resources of Ukraine is concerned that almost all forest fires start outside the forest areas – on adjacent lands, in particular, on peat and farmland bordering the forest. This was reported by T. V. Chairman of the State forestry Khrystyna Yushkevych during the meeting of the interdepartmental operational staff of the State Commission on Technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies, which was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of regional development, construction and communal services of Gennadiy Zubka.

The situation in the end of summer is especially acute when the population and different entities of the economy are burned by dry vegetation and its remnants on farmland, peat, bands of highways and railways, other adjacent Lands of forestry designation of plots. This situation is repeated from year to year,-stressed Christina Yushkevych.

She reported that since the beginning of the year in the subordinate forests eliminated 300 fires on the area of 194 hectares. Compared with last year the number of fires decreased almost 4 times, and their area is almost six times.

Today, however, the level of fire hazard in the forests remains very high. So, since the beginning of July already eliminated almost 70 forest fires in the area of more than 45 hectares. State Agency of forest resources of Ukraine has intensified all possible resources and forces for the control of the situation and elimination of fires in the forests of Ukraine,-stressed T. о. Head of the department.

According to her, since the beginning of the year the State Forest protection conducted over 9.4 thousand. More than a thousand violators of fire safety rules were found and fined. The state forestry are equipped with fire-prevention breaks, mineralised strips and care for them.

Due to the increase in the number of forest fires, it appealed to all heads of local authorities to promote maximum in the fight against fires, because not all Ukrainian forests are under the control of the State Forest agency, 27% belong to the other bodies Central and local authorities.

In addition, Christine Yushkevych drew attention to the impossibility of elimination of fires arising during military exercises. I understand that the situation in the country is complicated. And in order to fight our country, the military must undergo training. However, I want to pay attention to observance of fire safety rules during shooting on landfills, bordering on the forest arrays, at occurrence of high class of fire hazard. or hold them subject to hydrometeorological conditions, she said.

Also, as reported by T. O. The head of State forestry, in the zone of special attention are seven south-eastern regions of Ukraine, for which there is no financing on fire-prevention measures. At the Joint Meeting of Heads of regional administrations, a decision was made to provide maximum assistance to these regions, including financial, fuel and lube materials, special equipment. Also, working with the management of southeastern oblasts, in particular, thanks to the support of the governor of Kherson region can solve the urgent issues of fire-prevention activities in the forests,-stressed Christina Yushkevych.
