As part of the European forests process, a panel meeting on forest adaptation to climate change was held

October 11, 2018 The Ministry of Agriculture in Budapest in the framework of the European forests process held a meeting of the Panel on the adaptation of forests to climate change, which was attended by experts from various European countries, as well as representatives of International organizations: the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the European Commission (EC), the European Forestry Institute (EFI), the European Association of State Forests (eustafor), and the Secretariat of the "Forests of Europe" process, Total – 21 participants. At the order of state forestry of Ukraine in the meeting took part Boksha I. F., head of the laboratory of monitoring and certification of the forests of Ukrniga, which is a member of the Panel on the adaptation of forests to climate change.

The Group of Experts on Forest adaptation to climate change was established in 2017 by meeting the experts ' level of the forests of Europe process. The installation meeting of this group took place in 2017, 2011 in Bratislava (Slovakian Republic), representatives of 13 countries and 7 international organizations took part in it. The Group of Experts on Forest adaptation to climate change was created to:

-Collection, analysis and dissemination of information on measures to adapt to climate change for sustainable forestry;

-Preparation and conducting of research on the state of adaptation of adaptive measures to climate change in forestry countries, which support the process of "forests of Europe";

-Preparation of the publication "Integration of adaptive measures to sustainable forestry";

-Preparation and carrying out in 2018-2019-рр. Two international meetings-"The contribution of agroreclamation in adaptive measures to climate change" and "exchange of knowledge and experience in the protection of forests in conditions of changes in the environment";

-Preparation of a report on adaptive measures to change the climate in forestry for a meeting at the "Forests of Europe" process;

-Participation in key international events relating to adaptation to climate change in forestry.

During the meeting, the experts examined the results of the Seminar "Awareness of agroforestry contribution to ensure the stability of landscapes in Europe", which took place on the eve of Budapest. Agroforestry provides a common use of land plots for cultivation of perennial wood and shrubs, crops and/or livestock. The concept of agroforestry is close to agroreclamation, a complex of forestry measures aimed at improving the conditions of growth and development of crops in order to increase their yields. At the same time, in terms of agroforestry there is also development of livestock in the lands under the melorative influence of forest canopy.

Overview of agroforestry in Europe, which is made in the monograph "Agroforestry in Europe: Current state and future perspectives" (Antonio Rigueiro-Rodríguez, Jim McAdam, María Rosa Mosquera-Losada agroforestry in Europe current status and future Prospects. Springer. – 2009. -450 p.) demonstrates that Europe has long-standing agronomic traditions, but the only policy on the development of this area of activity for European Union countries is absent. At the same time, European Union countries are receiving funds for development of agroforestry within the framework of rural agricultural policy development Programs (CAP), and the best agronomic practices are distributed by the European Federation Agroforestry (EURAF). At the present stage of development of agroforestry in Europe is considered as an important factor in preventing the negative effects of climate change.

Representatives of EFI presented preliminary results of the study on the state of adaptation of adaptive measures to climate change in forestry countries, which support the process of "forests of Europe" and offered to continue the study in order to cover all 47 Of the countries of the European forests process.

Experts familiarized themselves with the results of work of international institutions and organizations on the adaptation of forestry to climate change, in particular with the results of research of the European Forestry Institute (EFI) and relevant developments of the European Association of State Forests (eustafor).

In the context of climate change, an important measure is the carbon inventory in forests because the amount of carbon-absorbed indicates the efficiency of forestry contribution in the prevention (mitigation) of climate change. The synergistic effect that the forestry is being shown through the combination of adaptation and prevention of climate change, is important in terms of the efficiency of resources use and the formation of additional benefits from the lisimonal measures to combat Climate change.

The experts discussed the issue of the future seminar "Protection of forests in conditions of increased climate change risks", which is scheduled to be held in September 2019 in Turkey.
