Ostap Semerak: Preserves and national parks, subordinate to the Ministry of Nature, participated in the All-Ukrainian action "World Tree Posts"

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources was involved in the all-Ukrainian action “World Tree Posts”. The event is dedicated to the International Day of the prevention of environmental exploitation during the war and military conflicts proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on November 6, 2001.

The All-Ukrainian action “post Tree of Peace” started on 5 November and started simultaneously in 15 cities and villages in different regions of Ukraine, which will be planted the first alley of peace. The event is initiated by the Bureau of Ecology of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and support of the Ministry of Environment and Natural resources of Ukraine.

In the sign of environmental protection from the impact of the consequences of military action and restoration of peace in Ukraine, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak together with the Bishop-Assistant of Kyiv Archdiocese of UGCC Archbishop Josef Milin and representatives of Local authorities were involved in the disembarkation of the coniferous and fruit alleys of peace near the cathedral of Vyshgorodskaya Virgin of UGCC in Vyshgorod Kiev region.

According to the Minister of Ecology and Natural resources, National Natural parks and reserves will join the all-Ukrainian action “tree posts”.

«Action is perpetual, and we will try to distribute it in all territory of Ukraine. Our reserves and national Natural parks, subordinate to the Ministry of Nature, also joined this initiative. We have attracted our specialists and provide the planting material. It is especially pleasant that the action supports youth and children. This confirms the fact that Ukraine is increasing interest in the correct careful attitude to the environment,-said Ostap Semerak.

The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources hopes that in the future the action will move into a real national environmental movement and invited all Ukrainians to support it. “The action is very symbolic and light.” We made God’s case-landed a whole garden. On the other hand we have expressed their protest of war and aggression, which bears death and damage to nature. My long-term goal as Minister of Ecology is to develop this action in the nationwide movement of planting trees throughout Ukraine. We will work to spread this experience. I invite everyone! “, said Ostap Semerak.

He also recalled that Ukraine initiated the last UN assembly on the environment of the adoption of the resolution “Protection of environment in areas of armed conflict”.

We are in fact supported by many countries. This was the first document that attracted the international community’s attention to protect the environment in the zones of armed conflicts over the past 20 years. I believe that soon the time will come and dozens of such aley of the world we will lay in the cities of Luhansk and Donetsk regions, summarized Ostap Semerak.
