In SE «Makarivsky forestry». Basic audit of forest certification was conducted

In Ukraine, the development received a forest certification according to the International Scheme forest Trusteeship Council (Forest Stewardship Council ®, FSC) – an international nonprofit non-profit NGO aiming to promote responsible management of forests around the world.

Forest certification includes two components. First, it is the certification of the forestry system, and the second – certification of product supply chain. During the first assessment of the timber compliance of the population of ecological, social and economic requirements, the second touches on the adjustment of the system of traffic tracking of wood and other products from certified forest farms to The consumer through all phases of the transformation of raw materials into finished products, intended for use by the end consumer.

For four days, from 22.10 to 25.10. In 2018 the certification audit was conducted in SE "Makarivsky forestry". Forest economic activity of SE "Makariv forestry" on conformity to the principles and criteria of FSC was inspected by "Legallis" Ltd., which is the representative of one of the accredited FSC certification bodies operating in Ukraine.

Auditors studied the documentation of the enterprise, conducted a survey of employees, in order to certify compliance with the principles and Criteria FSC in the implementation of events on reforestation, works on harvesting, transportation and shipment to consumers of forestry, visited forestry units.

With the participation of local executive authorities, members of local communities and public organizations, a survey was conducted to match the work of forestry to international requirements and cooperation with local communities.

We hope that the collected information will allow to decide on the possibility of issuing a certificate of conformity with the standards of the system FSC.
